According to the United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS (UNAIDS), as of January 1, 2017, the number of people living with HIV worldwide is 36.4 million. Of these, 15 million are women and 3.2 million are children under 14 years old. Every year 2.5-3 million new cases are registered. Most of the patients (22.5 million) are African countries, with disrupted economic and political systems, and 3 million are sick in India, 1.4 million in China and 1.2 million are in the United States. According to Russian official organizations in this country, the number of patients with HIV infection is 1 million, more than 1 percent of the population in Ukraine is infected with HIV.
